LEEDS, AL (WBRC)- The Shelby County Sheriff's Office announced that they had found the SUV of a missing Chelsea woman at a press conference today at 5 p.m.
The conference took place at Shale Road and Hwy 78 in Leeds, nearby to a rock quarry where the SUV was found about 40 feet under water. Shelby County Sheriff Curry says considering the location of the SUV, foul play is likely in the case.
They cannot confirm at this time if Gentry is in the car. Due to the weather and the difficulty of raising a vehicle, law enforcement will not attempt to raise the SUV until tomorrow.
FOX6 has had a crew on location near the quarry today and they reported observing the Calera Dive Team enter the water.
Gentry was last heard from around 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28. Sheriff Curry today thanked citizens for their help in the case after his office made a request for community members to search for Gentry's car. He also said that several federal agencies and the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office helped in this investigation.
