MONTEVALLO, AL (WBRC)- The Shelby County Sheriff's Office says that a runaway teenager has returned home safely.

Deputies say that Yolanda Guadalupe Martinez, 16, had run away from her home in Montevallo Nov. 9. Deputies say the family notified them Nov. 27 that the teen had returned home safely and was in the care of her family.

Investigators say they will follow up with Martinez and her family to make sure that she has not been the victim of any crime.

Deputies were first notified of Martinez's circumstances Nov. 13 and after a week of following leads, they asked for the public's help in locating the teen. They say they never suspected foul play and believed that she was in the company of a man named Miguel.

Sheriff Currry thanked members of the public for tips about Martinez's location and law enforcement officers who helped to try and find her.
